Reboot problem

OK, I just built a new pc lastnight, And when I first booted it up, it posted, then shut itself down. I thought I fried my cpu,(like I did lasttime) but after a few more trys at turning it on, it worked. Then it shut down again. This happened a couple more times, So I thought it might be my PSU. So I tried another PSU, and it seemed to work fine. So I popped the old one back in and it worked. So I installed Windows and did a few other things. Then when I was done for the night, I shut it down, Now today, it did the same thing, it posted, then it shut down. So I went into the case and disconnected the psu, then reconnected it. It is now working. What is the problem? Is the PSU messed up? or could it be my mobo? I have:

AMD XP 1500
Epox 8KHA+
256mb DDR Crucial ram
soundblaster live 5.1
1st PSU: Some 250watt
2nd PSU: Gateway 200watt
lite on CDRW
Toshiba 6X dvd
and other thing that aren't important.

Hmm, XP1500 on generic Powersupply ? I believe you need at least a power supply on amd's list that has less noise that wont interfere with the CPU.. thats a heavy cpu

So u think it is just the cpu? That is all I am worried about right now. So if it is, I can go to bestbuy or someplace and get one. But if it is something else, I need to send it back to newegg.
