Reboot problem with KR7A133???

W98 System works fine after booting up, tho my 300w Sparkle PS is probably marginal with my XP1900+, etc. I can restart Windows,
but NOT reboot system. If I do 4 any reason, it stalls B4 posting & gives long beeps(ie like RAM problem). If I turn off PC, then push start button again it boots just fine...could this be a PS issue?

Anyone else have this problem? TIA

I have the same model (Powerman, but same manufacturer as Sparkle) 300W PSU in my XP1900 system but on the Epox 8kha+ board. The system is pretty rock stable and The Epox is known to be picky about power supplies.

What do you mean that you can restart windows but not reboot the system? Are you saying that you can log off/reboot from within windows but if you do a cold boot (ie you hit the power button after the computer's been off for a while) it gives you the beep codes?

Have you tried looking up to see what the beep code means? There should be a listing of those somewhere.

The only advice I can give is that on my old IWill KK266 I occasionally had a cold boot problem due to overclocking the FSB too much. If you are overclocking at all, try backing off a bit or try bumping up the voltages supplied to the RAM a little.

Good luck!

Gaidin - My PS is an older FSP300-60BT, which only has TCO (combined power of 3.3v+5v rails) of 150w, I'm told ~180w would be min for my system by AMD & Sparkle. So I'll get newer FSP350-60BT which has TCO of 220w, I think my AGP/RAM slots aren't getting enuff amps.
Do you perhaps have the newer Sparkle FSP300-60BTV? This does have a TCO of 200w...it's on the AMD recommend list.

Restarting windows is not a full reboot(hold down shift key while choosing Start/ShutDown/Restart), just a black screen, then back to OS. This is quickest way 4 installing SW.

A full reboot is going to a intial DOS/POST screen & back to OS, takes longer. In my case system hangs at POST & gives long beeps. I checked code info on that, it's RAM(maybe not getting enuff juice?). At that point if I shut down & press start button, it boots fine.

BTW I'm not overclocking, in fact I'm running at 100FSB till I install new PS...just wondered if PS is my only problem, not sure yet.

I had a similar problem on Abit KR7A-RAID..

1. boost memory voltage
2. there is a memory setting last one in bios I had to set it to auto not 0..and my problem disappeared

I have the same board with enermax 350Watt. Everything's at deafualt on the mobo and I have not raised teh voltage on anything. It really depends on how many components you have in yous system whether youll need a new PSU.

Try the ram voltage and if it dont work, grab a 350watt from frys and keep the receipt so you can return it if that's not the problem.

nealh - I already tried raising DDR voltage, but had that setting(DCLK Feedback Delay) set to 0. Yep, after setting it to Auto, my restart
problems are gone!! Mucho Gusto!

Still, I reckon my PS is marginal with a TCO of 150w, so I ordered a 350w(TCO=220w) Sparkler from NewEgg. Till then I'll limp <G> along at 1.2 GHz(12x100fsb) to save a few watts. Thanx all!!

BTW do most folks set Command Drive Strength to Hi for MegaRAM? I'm running 1GB of Crucial PC2100, cause I got it B4 the $ went up...
