Reboot or hang when running nVidia dual GPU system

I have 2 systems, both have trouble running dual nVidia GPU clients.
Two mobos: MSI 650i SLI motherboard, Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4L motherboard.
The MSI system would give me nv4_disp error Blue Screen from time to time. Sometimes it will run fine for 2 days, other times it crash in minutes.

The Gigabyte system will give me reboots, again, sometimes once two days, sometimes after several hours. I suspect memory issue, and am using Memtest86+ at the moment, so far no errors.

I really want to have these 2 machines set up, as I have 5 other 8800GT cards laying around! Once these two goes smoothly, I will buy more mobo to put all cards in.

I was under the impression that more than one GPU was not supported fully yet. I believe we are waiting for the new nvidia drivers to be released soon.

Then you are wrong. There's a lot of people running multi GPU clients.

You can run two GPU clients. I think you have to disable SLI for them to work and there are some specific instructions about setting flags and naming directories.

I haven't done it and can't speak from experience, but the f@h forums have info.

Could be cooling issues too. There's a couple of utlities out there: GPU-Z and ATITool. Both will work with nvidia cards. These cards generate a ton of heat!! My 8800GT GPU was running at 87C+ and was unstable so I put an aftermarket heatsink/fan combo and it now runs at 66C and stable as a rock. I suspect you'll need excellent case cooling with 2 cards running!

The ATITool will also allow you to do some error checking.

welcome to the TeAm!

If the card gets too hot, won't it became unstable and have a error of -1?
I have not seen such error when I run GPU client, so I assume my cards are stable. I will test it out with my other stock 8800gt and see what happens.

May as well ask - what sort of power supplies are in these systems? Any troubles when playing games in SLI mode?

After that, you'd have to read up on the nVidia section of FoldingForum.org for info on multi-GPU setup.

One is antec 380W, other is Ultra 600W.
I've measured the system under full load, and it pulls only 270 watts tops.

I see even with the Antec 380 that you're not exceeding total output but is it possible you're exceeding the output of one of the lines?
Which line(s) do graphics cards draw most of their power?

Btw be wary of memtest86+, I have the same MSI mbrd as you & memtest86+ (v2.01 IIRC) would error with more than 1 RAM stick in, I realised latter that the 'chipset' line was blank so it would seem it didn't recognise the chipset. That was the DOS version btw.
To confirm that my mbrd & RAM was actually OK I ran F@H SMP for 2-3 days without any EUEs.
