Rebel Galaxy - PS4

Bought the game this weekend and put an hour or two in it just to get the feel of it. It's a mix of many styles from space combat to exploration, trading, making money and hiring Mercs to help you.

It's mostly a space combat action game but you always have the option to go merchant and avoid the bad guys around the galaxy.

Combat is a bit weird...your ship only goes left and right, no up and down movement. At first it doesnt feel right but after a while you get why it's that way. You have broadside weapons and turrets and many customisation options for your ship like shields, hull, cargo, etc.

Quests are everywhere and help you explore the place and make more money and grow your rep. Single player narrated story only I think but seem ok enough to keep you playing, exploring and make new alliances.

It's pretty hard to describe what this game is but it's a nice surprise and something new on the market. I'll need to put more time in it (Bloodborne, why you so good?!!?) but I think it's worth it's price point.

How is it with using a controller? I noticed this is also on the PC and my be better with a flight stick.

Yep I think it's better on PS4 if you have one of if you can play on a large TV set. Game is not jaw-dropping but it's quite nice.

If only Witcher 3 didn't exist, I would have more time to play other stuff...

Looks like Freelancer 2.0?

Kinda.
Combat is only 2D and theres not much of a story. Even fewer ships to choose from. They are all capital class, slow and heavy. Fewer star systems but more junk within each system. More variety in weapons and upgrades. A little more randomness in the side missions.
