There were problems with people getting the rebate receipt or even the rebate after they pricematched.

I have not gotten a rejection letter yet, but I bought it first then PMed later. So I did not have to send the yellow copy.

Why would anyone send the Yellow copy of the receipt??? I used the copy of the receipt that is printed at the register for the rebate. Anyone who used the yellow copy is dumb because its a high probability that they would reject your rebate because of the low-low price after pricematch.

This should be a valuable lesson for anyone getting deals with pricematching and rebates. Always, buy the item first so you'll get the original price showing on the receipt and then go back for a price match. My submission shows the original $79.99 purchase price. No worries here!

FYI

There is a unique transaction code printed on the receipt. When you send in your rebate this code is checked to see if the item was returned to Best Buy. When you PriceMatch you are returning the item and repurchasing it which will give you a new transaction code.

If you sent in the original rebate receipt with the original transaction number on it, the receipt becomes invalid when you do a pricematch; so your rebate request becomes invalid.

If you sent in your pricematch receipt you should receive your rebate as there is no stipulation that the rebate is invalid if you do a pricematch.

If you receive a rejection letter you need to contact Best Buy, the BBB, and consider taking the matter to the Small Claims Court.

How do you know they check the trans number? It does make sense if they do, but I'm just wondering how you would know that.

My particular situation won't be an issue I'm sure.

I bought the item for in store pick up, picked it up, and then did a price match. Someone mentioned here that I wouldn't get the rebate because it was an online purchase and the rebate was B&M only. I called BB and confirmed that to be the case so I went back to the store and explained the situation and said I just wanted to return the item (at the full price) and then re-purchase it (at the full price) without any exchanged of money. They had to charge my card again in order to do this and I saw the credit in a couple days. Therefore, I have a transaction with NO pricematch. This was the transaction that I used to send in the rebate receipt and form.

So, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get mine without a problem, however, that would suck if we had to do stuff like that all the time to get our money back.

I do like the mouse, it's nice to be able to lean back to surf.

Based on my MANY experiences with PM and rebates, the above is simply NOT true. I bought the all-famous Toshiba notebook with $150 and $200 rebates from BB first, then repurchased it to get a $300 rebate (got a new transaction number) and I got them ALL. I made $80 on the laptop in the end. Yes, I made money. BB does NOT check the transaction number unless they see something funky such as copied rebate form or yellow PM receipt.

Do you think that perhaps Best Buy has changed their policy since then LukFilm?

It hasn't been long enough. They usually take around 8 weeks to arrive. The reported rejection notice just came early.

I see best buy has a 20 dollar rebate on this mouse again good through 4-5-2003, does anyone know of a place that has it advertised for 49 anymore so that I might pricematch it?
Thanks

I just pricematched CompUsa at BestBuy for $59.99 and got BestBuy's $20.00 rebate. Final price 39.99, not too bad!
