I'll be moving in 1 or 2 months and was wondering if it's a bad idea to send in rebates:
1) Rebate processing companies are known for atrocious customer service, so would they even bother if I call to tell them of address change?
2) Would rebate checks be forwarded by post office?
3) If checks were delivered to my soon-to-be old address, would the new tenants be able to cash them?

Looks like no Hot Deals for me for a few weeks :(

File a change of address form with the Post Office and everything will get forwarded to your new address.

Not necessarily the case.

When I moved my Amazon.com rebate ($200) did NOT get forwarded, apparently they specify to the post office not to forward them.

When I called Amazon they sent me a new check, had it in 3 days.

TRUE. They'll deliver whatever is supposed to go to previous address. Case in point:
I mistakenly had my SVC order sent by USPS to my home address. Trouble is, I don't have a mailbox so it wouldn't have been delivered had I not had it forwarded to my PO box. Yes, it works.

See above, the sender can specify not to forward a particular piece of mail.

It might not if they have that big "Postmaster, do not forward" stamp on it.

Hmm . . . I have two rebate checks lying around here and neither of them say "Do not forward," but who knows what other rebate checks may say. I guess best thing to do is have em sent to my parents, or JUST STOP BUYING EVERY FRIGGIN' HOT DEAL.
