I'm hoping this is about a video-related item.

Basically, either you send in a receipt of your purchase to the manufactuer/distributor and they'll send you the amount of the rebate back to you. (If it is a MIR--Mail. In. Rebate.) Although sometimes there are "Instant Savings" which act like an immediate rebate without the mailing process. There are a few others but those are your most common ones.

ya it's easy untill many differenct companies want the orginal receipt sent. Some merchants will give you more than one receipt if you ask for it though. Just remember to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS when sending them in. The companies often times don't give you any slack, so just make sure everything is perfect before sending them in. I my self don't like rebates but there are those out there that live and die by them, so I'd say give it a go.

theres two types of rebate:

1-instant rebate: the store gives you an instant rebate on the product

2-mail-in-rebate: you buy the product at its regular price and then you mail in a form to the company of the product then they send the money back to you...
