So I may be more OCD than the average anandtech member but I keep track of all my rebates, when I sent them and the amount and then when I get the rebate in the mail I mark it fulfilled. When I was in undergrad I was a madman on my rebates and I only had a couple go bad, with cendyne or one of those generic companies.

I tallied up my rebates total today and it came to about $2600, this is over the course of about 9 years. I was curious if anyone else had any idea of their rebate total? With expensive phone rebates these days it probably isn't hard to really get up there.

The majority of that was between 1999 - 2002

Mine was $400 from a few years ago. The average is around $50 - $75 per MIR.

Not a single cent. The whole concept offends me, so I don't buy products that have an mir. Though I'm impressed with Rossmans total, that man deserves his title.

My last big rebate was for $100 which I sent via certified mail and it still got lost. Took a lot of legwork with the vendor to cut me the rebate (thankfully I had made copies).
I've since sworn off rebates - not worth the time and trouble for me.

Over the last 10 years I'd say about $500 - $1,000 but recently I have stopped buying items with rebates. A rebate is an incentive to buy and the company is hoping that as amny as 40% never apply for them. If you want to incentivise me ... just make it an instant rebate. My time is valuable and rebates tend to suck a lot of time away. then you have to deal with all the hassel when they don't pay.

Rebates are a PITA.
