so i bought the Ultra psu for $50... free after $50 rebate.
you can see its status online here

deadline for submission is 8-6-06. rebate denied on 8-7-06. coincident???

i clearly submitted it 7-27-06. called live customer support and they read verbatim from the url. nothing else.
im wondering if others got their rebate too? or any Ultra rebate for that matter...

Call them and raise hell. Usually they will let you resubmit and wait another 8 weeks for payment. Ultra was VERY good to me the last time i sent in a MIR. They turned it around in 8 weeks from the day i sent the info in and kept me apprised with emails of the rebate status regularly. It almost made me believe in MIR again. ;)

Isn't that redundant? I consider all mail-in rebates to be a scam. Even if you do get the rebate, it's weeks later, so it's not like you actually saved anything upfront. Basically you're buying a product with a small chance to win some of that money back at a later date.

All rebates are a scam, even the ones that pay. The system is based on people not following the instructions, missing the deadlines. Every rebate deal you do validates the system. But if we all ignored them, they really would go away.

I can honestly say that my expenditure at Best Buy has doubled or tripled since they did away with MIR.

Assuming you have scanned copies of everything, ask them for a fax or email you can send the copies to since they must have misplaced it on their end. If they still say no, let them know your next call is going to be to your state's Attorney General's office and to the BBB. One of the two of them will get it resolved.

that makes no sense...if you don't want to deal with the rebate, then don't use it...why would that affect you buying from them?

"deadline for submission is 8-6-06. rebate denied on 8-7-06. coincident???"

Not a coincidence; it seems normal to me that if they hadn't received the invoice the day after the rebate expired, they'd reject your rebate.

Now, whether they received the invoice or not is a different story. You should always photocopy everything just in case. Although I think a year later is a bit late to try to resolve this...

You say "i clearly submitted it 7-27-06." Huh? I'm not seeing that.

You wouldn't see the great deals you get with rebates if they did away with rebates, because the suckers who don't collect make it profitable for them while they lose money on the people who do collect. Free after rebate works. Free does not.

Canon try to pull a fast one on me. Not really canon... its the companies these places outsource to to handle rebates. They said a UPC was missing and I could get the rebate if I submitted it again. Which was not possible since they had it. But a quick call to Canon customer service and a fax with the receipt... the check was on the way.

point.... the companies that process rebates must get a bonus for denying claims. I would contact the manufacturer.

Ugh, I am in the same boat.

The only reason I bought the stupid PSU from Frys was because it was FAR. Sent it in without photocopying it because I was in a hurry... Now I have a no-upc PSU that I paid too much for, but can only blame myself.

Retailers would still have to come up with a way to compete. Savvy shoppers have learned that rebates are often illusory, and don't go for rebate deals. Why do you think Best Buy stopped?

Best Buy stopped because they realized that a certain segment of their customers (the ones who bought stuff with rebates) ONLY bought loss leaders and they never made any money off them.

Wrong. Savvy shoppers make copies in triplicate, along with scans saved on their HDs, organized into folders. We get our rebates.
