Hi all,

I searched some of the threads on the Cendyne drives and have a question. I recently bought the 52x24x52 drive from Om and sorry to say it not a Lite-on.

The model# on the drive says CRW-5224A and the OS reads it was Cendyne522452AU.

Is this an ASUS or AOpen drive since both have the same model# on their website less the "A" for the Aopen.

I heard that the ASUS drives were more than respectable. Replacing a POS Phillips 4x4x32 drive.

Thoughts.

My "Cendyne" 24X/12X/40X is a rebadged AOpen and performed quite well.

Has never burned a coaster and never uses more than 10-15% CPU when burning.
You pretty much can't go wrong with anything that has burnproof/just-link, etc.

Thanks.

I am asking because I want to maybe flash the firmware and am worried which vendor to use.

Thoughts.

Hi all,

Well, it looks like all signs point to it being an Asus drive. I tried to flash the firmware with Asus but it tells me device not found.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the link Skorpio.

I tried the firmware from the Asus site already. It tells me that it can't find the device. Need some help with that prob. :)
