Reattaching fan to the duron

Is it safe to reuse the heatsink without the sticky stuff on the Duron? I took out one cpu and replaced it with the other one but I didn't replace the heatsink with the new one. Heat is still going through but I want to know if I need to recoat it with thermal paste?

Its always a good idea to use fresh thermal paste when remounting a HSF. This is especially true if you are switching CPUs since their physical characteristics nay not be identical.
