Reasons to purchase GoogleTV instead of Chromecast?

Just wondering, is Chromecast replacing GoogleTV or are there still good reasons to purchase a GoogleTV, apart from the fact that the latter comes with a remote and it's own version of Android installed, so that one can in principle use it without a tablet/phone/laptop?

I never owned a Google TV. It kinda feels like the platform is neglected by Google for some reason. But I did read that Chromecast functionality it coming to Google TV. So the Google TV boxes will have the functionality of Chromecast with the other things Google TVs can do.

I was so disappointed last year when Google announced the Nexus Q instead of a Nexus Google TV. I think Google really needs to release it's own Nexus TV. I have no idea if Google TV from the third parties will get the update that adds Chromecast support or not. If Google TV is anything like other Android platforms, older devices usually don't get updates.

I read that all "Gen 2" Google tv devices will be upgraded to function as a chrome cast. I'm not sure what the gen 2 devices are but you'll get the best of both worlds.

I had a logitech revue and it was only OK. It gets very few updates and was slow and hiccuped a lot. Eventually the Netflix app broke and there was no way to fix it. I switched over to the Roku and never looked back. Its faster, sharper, easier and has more stuff.

An android phone with mini HDMI would be better than most google consoles.
