I just got a Powercolor 9700 Pro. Is there any reason I would want to OC other than to say I did it?

^^ Agreed. I have the same specs as you Dyflam and I did some overclocking experiments and with that speed of CPU, overclocking just doesn't seem worth it. I got my 3DMark scores to go up, but in-game FPS didn't go up all that much and that is what really matters of course. I put it back down to stock speeds and will wait for it to actually show signs of not being fast enough before I overclock it.

What about the regular 9700 (aka 9700 gold)? Any reason to overclock to 9700 pro settings?

Ummm ... no reason at all really ... Mine runs fine stock and oc'd.

I do it to push my Online Gaming to the absolute limit.

Cuz, If you can see them 1st (latencey) you can kill first.

and

If your computer loads a map faster ... you can get all the armor and powerups before anyone enters the game.

I only use it for an advantage over others in my FFA games.

It also boosts 3dMarks. (In my case by 600 points from stock clock speeds)
