Reasons for parents to cut off a spoiled kid?

I'm writing a short story about a spoiled kid who gets cut off from his parents due to one understandable circumstance - can anyone help me think of one? What would make parents who baby their 20-something year old kid to just say "screw you, you're cut off!"

Any suggestions that are normal (for a 20-year old male) and not over the top are appreciated 🙂

Some ideas:

1. He gets arrested for a DUI
2. Caught with drugs
3. Drops out of school

4. He gets into an accident while street racing in his brand new 2005 BMW 545i and totals the car.

he lies about going to school or flunked out and has been partying all this time squandering the tuition money they forked over....and has no marketable skills

I like this one, any other suggestions? Thanks!

If he's twenty and the parents are still spoiling him, they'll never learn.

Have you heard of a movie called One Night in Paris?

What's wrong with drugs? I'd take that one off the list. Add drops out of school and mooches off them. Most rich kids don't understand or appreciate the value behind the money their parents give them. If I was one of those parents I'd cut them off faster than they can cry about it. Which is fast.

He gets drunk and drives through an apartment building roughly about 400 feet of the road, and nearly kills a person sleeping inside. It is his second DWI, within a year of his first one. Total cost of damage is many thousands of dollars.

He gets drunk and wrecks his car injuring a child and then he blames everyone but himself, so the parents decide they have had enough
