Does anyone happen to know the reasons why a child may not be walking by the time they're 20months or 24 months old? Only ones I can think of at the moment are DS and Low Muscle tone. I know there has got to be more than this, does anyone happen to know?

My little sister didn't start walking until she was almost three. She had parents + 2 older brothers to carry her wherever she wanted- she would just hold up her arms, say "up", and then point where she wanted to go. :) She is a cheerleader/dancer/gymnist/black belt now.

muscles has not fully developed yet. Much like people who are in accidents and need to be rehabilitated, babies are the same way.

If they aren't walking yet, then it's because they're just a lazy little runt. Hand them a pair of overalls and give them an ultimatum: You either start doing some damn chores or you can pay your own rent.

Worked for me when I was 2.

It could be that the baby's high tone/low tone or has something else going on. If it's not the case that the child just seems unmotivated or is carried a lot unnecessarily, look into getting them assessed.

What does the pediatrician think? A doctor would usually see if something was off.

Kids develop at their own pace. If you are seriously concerned, call your Doctor to discuss it. My daughter was off and walking like a pro before her first birthday. My son, on the other hand, didnt feel like doing it until he was about 16 months.
