Reasonable dealer haggle?

I'm looking at a 27k used car, been on the lot for a month, kind of a random/bizarre car, Porsche, not sure if that makes it easier or harder to sell. I kind of imagine the demand for a Cayman when its about to be 10 degrees outside for the next 3 months is rather low but who knows.

Is 24k a lowball BS offer? 25k? Completely dependent on the situation?

Basically, I like the car, but only if I could get a very good deal on it. Its not a perfect fit, nor is it practical... but if I could swindle a deal I'd be in.
 
Totally depends on the situation. My boss walked into a dealer and offered them half of what they were asking for a used viper, ended up leaving with it. Went back a couple years later and they were trying to get him into a hell cat but they were charging $40K markup. He offered them list on one, thinking there was no way they would bite, left with a hell cat too.
 
Offer 20k, then work your way up form there. Talk to someone who has negotiating power, not some sales guy that has to talk to his manager 100 times.
 
Depends on how bad they want the sale. No matter how low your offer is they will haggle with you. This is a business you're dealing with so there's no hard feelings.

Not just they're a business, it's literally the business of the what they do. Rank amateur vs pro will not end well.
 
That's your call. I've lowballed. They just come back with a counter. They want the sale no matter who you are. Just don't be a complete ass about it.
 
You should probably buy a car that you think is worth the asking price, and then haggle them down, not buy a car that isn't really the right car for you, but buy anyway because you "swindle a deal" and feel better about it as a result.
