I live a few miles outside of NYC...

paying $1,150 for a large, newly renovated 2-bedroom apartment. the catch is that's it's on the third floor. moving in totally sucked... if I ever get a raise, though, I might start looking for a new apartment on a first floor.

What a totally impossible answer to question and be meaningful. You can pay $450 for a nice apartment somewhere, and $1450 for a worse apartment somewhere else, simply because cost of living is higher.

really depends on where you live
the morgatage on our house is less per month then the rent on some appartments

I pay $1400/month for a 2/2.5 duplex/townhome apt in S Florida. Yes, it's expensive to live down here...

My roommates and I (3 total) pay $1625 for our 2/2 in West LA. Ri-freaking-diculous. My girlfriend was splitting a $1060 1/1 in the same area, which skyrocketed to $1395 when she moved out.
As far as reasonable goes, there's nothing reasonable about West LA apartments. Anything under $1450 for a 2/2 is either a steal or sh!t, and people pay over $2000 for a 2/2 "luxury" unit.

dude, one place could be 500, then 10 miles away from it the same place could be 800+. all depends on where you are.

well there's 3 things that will tell you how much you're going to pay to rent:

1. Location
2. Location
3. Location

$Eleventy billion for 14 square feet in New York City
No..
$1.18 for 12,000 acre ranch just outside of Billings
No..
$1400 for a 2 Bedroom in Bethesda...

what a dumb question unless you are doing some detailed demographic analysis on regional rent variance in the mid-20's technosophisticate population (or something...)

210$ a month inc. utils. for a room in a nice manufactured home. In a real nice trailer park. They got double wides.
