having now read the thread, I can only guess that you should have posted it in the OS forum...

OS or Software - maybe even OT, since it dealt more with the legality of the sale and not the software itself.

Edit - Also, if it's a licensed-to-HP OEM copy, you couldn't sell it without the associated hardware - eg, the laptop.
