I was on the road a lot yesterday and was listening to some conservative talk radio shows (Rush & Hannity) and both of them were waving their fists in the air declaring how it was a victory for the conservatives and pro-war people that American's boycotted hollywood and their anti-war & anti-bush sentiments.

Is that really the truth? Or is it more so that TV viewing has gone up because people are staying home and watching the war stuff on news channels instead? Or maybe because there isn't crap out there to watch anyway?

Thoughts, opinions?

Don't watch The Core. It had a few funny moments, but all together, it was awful. And sooooo predictable.

I sort of liken this to the RIAA claming that it was internet piracy that was killing sales when they failed to take into consideration that we are in one of the biggest economic recessions we've been in for close to 20 years.

It's cause no good movies came out last month.

Agreed. Just wait until May, X2 and Matrix Reloaded!

Yeah, May will pick it up.

X-Men 2 and Matrix 2....

amish

Then a long wait til NOvember for The Matrix: Revolutions, then December for the mother of all movies in cinematic history :D

Possibly more people are getting sick of paying $30/couple to see a movie and eat popcorn. Instead, they are renting them, making their own popcorn and watching the show at their leisure.

My gf and I wanted to go see a movie a few weeks ago and there was absolutely nothing we both really wanted to see.

Tomb Raider 2 is a good one? Have you seen the previews? If it's like the first, no good can come from it...

The January-April box office is a studio dumping ground. Too late for Oscar qualification, too early for the blockbuster season.

I can hardly wait to see if they characterize the likely record-setting box office take caused by the release of The Matrix Reloaded as a radical repudiation of the Bush government. I'm going to guess no.
