Republicans are going to campaign largely based on Foreign Policy. This is the reason I think we should not re-elect Bush-Cheney.

There has been what I call a long term major Foreign Policy blunder by this administration. In the early to mid 80s, Dick Cheney along with the Regan administration befriended Saddam Hussein (there are pictures), gave him money and weapons material. The accusation that he is an evil brutal dictator, created mass graves, gassed his own people, tortured his people while true is nothing new. Saddam had the same MO when we were making nice with him. We chose to get in bed with him because we hated Iran more. Saddam then goes off in the late 80s into the 90s reeking havoc with his neighbors and we have the nerve to act surprised?! These are the risks aligning yourself with a bad guy.

Fast forward to the present. Bush and Cheney start a war with Iraq using the excuse of WMDs, imminent threat and a link to 9/11. Some of these were stated and some were heavily implied. As suspected by many they have no WMDs are not an imminent threat to the U.S. and there is no link between Iraq and 9/11. To close the loop on the blunder this administration sent close to 500 American soldiers to their death in a war waged under false pretenses to remove a dictator members of this administration helped prop up.
So, we should re-elect Bush-Cheney why??

First the mess with Iraq started under Kennedy.

Second, the US has long standing history that its allied with some country/group that isnt on the up and up, and then they come back and bite us in the ass.

I mean look at the Soviets in WWII, they helped the allies beat the Nazi's, but truth be told, the Soviets committed genocide on are larger scale than the Nazi's or Japan. And then the procceding "cold war".

My point is Al Qeida and Iraq arent the only former US allies that have come back and bit us in the ass.

I think what he means that Cheney and Bush's and their Neo Con buddies Foreign policies are royal fvckups. The consequences of their actions are going to bite us back in the ass ten years down the road like before.

So I'm all for getting them out of the seat of power before the neo cons screw us again.

Nice rationale, since we have many past screwups it's ok to continue. My point is since we are dealing someone currently in office who is part of a current major screwup the only way to hold him responsible is at the ballot box.

nah, lets blame political parties instead, that seems to be the norm in here.

Soo, we can blame the civil war, Iraq and Viet Nam on the dems. WW2 and korea on the republicans.
