Reason for blurry NVidia 2D

Found this site http://www.geocities.com/porotuner/imagequality.htmlin a thread about GForce Ultra problems.

I've owned a TNT1 and a Geforce 256 and the only complaints I've had was thier bad 2D at High Resolutions/Refresh rates. I think I'll buy a NV20 card based on the review of it's 2D not it's 3D. Since we all know it'll be fast in 3D 😉.

Also I'm considering modifying my Geforce 256 but wanted to know if anyone else has done the modification on the page and has it helped?

Thanks,
EJ

The reason for bad 2d is the 3rd party manufacturers use cheap parts so they can stay competitive with each other instead of using quality parts(ATi has no problems with having another company selling a radeon cheaper than them)

Yeah but at least one manufacturer would have good 2D. I've heard none except maybe ELSA having slightly better 2D then the other NVidia cards. So it has to be an NVidia design problem as well.

I still want to know if anyone else has tried that fix on the linked page though. If I break my card I'll just buy a cheap mx card I guess. Yes I hate the fuzzy text that bad...

I HIGHLY DOUBT it's an nvidia problem. Courageous people hve been moding their cards with high quality components to achever better 2d quality.

Why would Elsa be excused to having better 2D than anyone else when they don't even make their own cards AFAIK Leatek are the ones who produce their cards and Elsa just stamps thier name and claims on it.

Just a correction: Visiontek makes the cards for Elsa, not Leadtek.

If you don't like the 2D on nVidia cards, go buy a lame ass ATi Radeon.

Recently, the Hercules Ultra was given a review where it's 2D was deemed better than the Elsa, and on par with a Matrox G450!
You may be able to find the review here:

So it's definately a hardware issue outside the chip.

Thanks Compellor, i needed that eh 😉, but you know what i meant Visiontek, ledtek, fooktek i know it was one of them eh.

well I just bought my second 3D Prophet hoping that this one has better 2D ill see if this one sucks also

I just installed my second 3D Prophet and I might actually keep this one
