Hi, hmm, please gimme advices ....

right now i have the oldest Geforce SDR.

i can't play much games because the bottleneck.

i am planning to upgrade my videocard, first i think of a GF4 MX card(MX440 or 460)

then the TI4200 with VIVO...

but the new generation of Geforce is about to be released in 2 weeks.

sure i can't afford the just came out chip on dec.

but i want to play UT2003... and run CounterStrike more smoother.

also, my 17" Sony monitor is haven't visual problem.... the top corners is flashy....

and i want to replace it with a good quality flat 19" monitor but cheap...

which one should i go first? monitor or videocard ... i know i am comparing 2 different things..... hahaa, i still haven't mention the cpu stuffs.

thanks... help me to deicde which one go first.

why do you post

on individual lines

Its a bit odd?

The answer it seems

is to get the ti4200

but if your monitor is dead

Get that first - then save more for the ti4200

It will last for quite a while

Faye,

Flat monitors aren't all they're cracked up to be. They have pixel problems & getting one that runs 100% > 100% of the time is rare. I'd consider a standard monitor considering the price difference & GQ between the 2. I'd also get the Ti4200 or a Rad8500 128mb card 1st. The 8500's are ~$100 & the Ti4200's are coming down (slowly) in price. The reason I say get the card 1st, you might be having driver dificulties that is affecting your monitor, esp if you have newer drivers intended to 'optimize' the GF4's.

HTH,

Mingon,

What I find odd is that you' d critique a writing style & then mimic it. Guess I didn't realize there is a minimum 'standard' for 'formatting' a post on a comp board. How'd I do? ;)

and i may get the ti4600 in 2 weeks... i don't know i am just thinking how's the potential of o'cing for the 4600.

i like nvidia more than ati, may be a more reliable and update drivers...

ya, and this is the way i type.:)

Yea that GF 4200 or Radeon 8500 will do UT2k3 well..

Hell if you have a fast enough processor, a 7500 will run the game smoothly.

But yea.. if you just want smooth go for the cheaper Radeon solution (7500) if you want really fast and smooth go for the GF or higher Radeon solution.

Pig? Try BOAR! It'll do when I say it'll do, not when you dictate. ;)

I'm sure we all had a good laugh: at you. :D

Don't blame rudeness on being British: it's an individual trait.

hum.. well if it was me, I would go for a new monitor over a new vidcard.. being not sure running a sub 1gig cpu, your going to get a huge boost off just a new vid card..

Oh but a new monitor will almost be like getting a whole new cpu! At least that is what it will feel like on web pages and all the other stuff when you are looking a new (and bigger) monitor.. I know when I upgraded a few years back from a plain Trinitron 17 (Dell rebadge) to one of those new (well new at the time) flat tube screen 19 inch Sony G400 Trinitrons it was almost TOO big :) heh

So at least bang for the buck I would think the new monitor would be the way to go.. After all, with you running a sub 1gig cpu your not going to get a huge boost just getting a new vid card but stuff you have now will look oh so much better on a bigger screen...

I know the price can be very attractive, and it does say GeForce4............. BUT

I an not a fan of anything NVidia that has an MX in the name (MX=Crippled (IMO))

However, when you loose the MX, NVidia stuff is nice.

(edit) The Pig thing was pretty funny :p
