I kept thinking of that movie "Trucks" the one with Emilio Estevez....*shudder*
Trucks is the original story by King that that was based on, and you're thinking of the movie Maximum Overdrive. Though there is a crappy direct-to-video movie called Trucks based on the same story.

Just be thankful things didn't turn into Duel 😉

Heh, I would have let him pass and then drafted!

I once followed a semi that was flying along I-80 across pretty much an entire midwestern state at friggin 80-85mph the whole time. The truck literally sucked my car along with it. I could feel effect of the car coming out of the slipstream if I tailed from too far back. It was totally awesome for gas mileage.

I wouldn't be too worried if I wanted to get away in my car... unless the pursuer was capable of more than 125. Then I'm in trouble... I'd be bouncing off my limiter.
I've wondered, how close to him do you have to be for that to work? Even when I was trying that in my crappy little Honda Prelude, I never really felt any difference.

how can you drive at such speed and take pics?...

That's scarcely a hard thing to do. On a road without too much traffic all he has to do is keep the car on the road. As for his speed, drive on the Mass Pike near Boston sometime. The minimum speed they drive is usually 90mph. 😛

3 carlengths back should do it to some extent. 2 carlengths would be pretty good. You should be able to feel the wind buffet your car, if it's light. I'd imagine semi drivers HATE it though, which is why I don't do it anymore.

you must be a terrible driver, playing stupid racing games with a semi who would crush you into a layer of asphalt

Agreed.... and this guy has kids and just got divorced. And it'd be a "great tragedy" on the news if the newly divorced daddy became a grease stain on the road because he's too busy being an idiot driving in excess of 100mph snapping pictures of his speedometer and rearview mirror like some 16 year old tard, rather than watching the road and driving reasonably.

Yeah...sure...I dont think he wanted to pass me...he was just toying with me...at close to 100mph...in a mack truck......I mean..cmon!
It's a Peterbilt, not a Mack. Those grill covers are very common. It's also pretty common for semis to just put the hammer down and go flat out (~90-100 mph) on a long flat stretch of road or on roads where they know it's clear. He just wanted to pass you.

I saw a truck with the teeth on the front, it was on a big Kenworth truck and the headlights looked like eyes, cool stuff 😀

Funny thing is you dont have a clue about what was going on when i was ahead of him,
he was behind me, i wasnt holding him back...read the post a bit better...sheesh!

I saw him in the rear view mirror, I wasnt doing 90 then, the picture was taken to show what i saw bearing down on me (at 90+) in my rear view mirror. He went by me and I speed up to see how fast he was really going..when i hit 90+ mph, i realized this truck is screaming down the highway....and I am the dangerous one?

Yeah..im a terrible driver because a list of people here assumed I was playing games with the truck, that I didnt pull over and that I was driving and taking photos....I love the amount of assumption people make when reviewing something....

So for those with little or no attention to detail.

1. I was on the highway doing about 75.

2. This truck with the teeth on the grill comes flying up behind me, a passenger takes a photo in the mirrors becuase it looks menacing. (next time I will be sure to ask them to get one out the back window so you can assume I hoped in the back seat and drove with my feet while I took the photo).

3. The truck passes me in a blur.

4. I bring my car up to 90+ to try and see how fast this guy is going in a 10,000 pound truck is going.
(Yeah..Im the ass but this idiot is driving a bomb at 90+)

5. A photo is taken of the speedo to show how fast a huge friggin truck is travelling.

Keep your comments about my safety, my divorce and my kids to yourself. Everyone in this forum has done something that could be deemed as "bad" or "dangerous" dont get all high and mighty on me.

So i heard a story today of someone on the highway north of where I live getting rear ended by a dump truck going to fast on the off ramp of the highway...he hit the car in front at like 60mph.
They got lucky, they were moving to the right hand lane to turn right so he only caught them on the far left side of the car..no one was hurt fortunately!
