Rear speakers won't work!!!

Okay, I just installed new Audigy drivers and apparently now my rear speakers don't work anymore. It's kinda weird b/c when I do the diagnostic to test the rear speakers, they seem to work b/c I can hear them work, but when I play music, they don't work. So frustrating... can anyone help me?

You may have to enable CMSS. Music is a stereo source so it will play through 2 speakers unless you use an expansion technique like CMSS.

Okay, I tested this:

I enabled CMSS, but I had turn off Audio Effects to have 4 speaker sound. Without CMSS or Audio Effects I still get only 2 speakers. The weird thing is that my old audigy drivers (SP20920) didn't have this problem. Also I with Audio Effects and CMSS on, I can stil get 4 speaker sound if I change my EAX settings for each preset to have the source set at 100%, but the front speakers are still louder than the rear speakers.

All simulated surround sound algorithms make the rear speakers quieter than the front speakers. You should be able to adjust the fade in the speaker console or mixer. For the Audigy 2 it's in the advanced panel of the surround mixer, I don't remember where it was for the original audigy.

Hmm... funny, I could have sworn that my original Audigy, the rear speakers and the front speakers sounded about the same volume... Maybe because I've been listening too much with my Nomad connected to my four speakers...

Also I'm pretty sure the old Audigy drivers didn't have CMSS?

(Btw, I have an Audigy, but I'm using Audigy 2 drivers 😉 )
