Rear speaker placement issue

I have been fortunate enough to be able to pick up my speaker project again. :)
However I have come across another issue. (Yes, I have an older thread out there, but this isn't about what make to get)

I live in a duplex and the rear wall of my living room is also the wall the two 'houses' share.

How much sound/vibration would go through the wall if I wall mounted surrounds?
By surrounds, I mean speakers such as these: Polk FXi3

The wall itself isn't very 'sound proof'. I can hear the muffled sounds from their TV when I am in my living room. Not enough to know what they are watching, but enough to know that the TV is on.

I guess it's not too big of a deal. If I have to, I just get bookshelf speakers and aim them at the ceiling, right?

OH, and I can't mount the speakers to the side of the seating area. Where the left rear speaker would go are large glass sliding doors. I can't mount them on the sides farther back either. There isn't enough wall space to mount. (couple doorways and a window are in the way).

bookshelves + library of books = good sound dampening.

the only way to surmise what effects your speakers will have in your living environment, however, is to wait until the neighbors complain, or politely invite them over for a listen...or at the very least make them aware of the changes to the local environment. Some neighbors are wuite tolerant of external noise/influences if you become friendly with them. others can be...."unreceptive" :(

I'm definitely going to let them know. Especially since I may need them to keep an eye out for the delivery guy. I hate it when packages get left out in the open on the front steps.

My neighbors are pretty nice. They have even commented on a number of occasions how I'm too quiet. I just don't want them to have to complain.

Lol, guess I just answered my own question....

Thanks.
