rear projection vs LCD/Plasma

Okay, so i am looking at BF adds and I see a 52" panasonic rear projection TV for $999 while a 42" LCD is around the same price. I know that rear projection has gotten A LOT better, but is it really worth it? What are the differences in quality and everything that i am really going to notice? I just want to use a nice TV for HD along with watching movies from my computers on it. I am not going to really control my computer with it normally, just for when the girl and i watch movies.
