and my temp dropped from 51C to 48C.

I noticed that the temp was creeping up slowly after couple month of use.

This is the second time I reapplied it and the temp dropped both times.

I wonder if theres a way to keep my temp steady so I dont have to reaply alumina again.

By any chance did you clean the dust off the HS when you reapplied Alumina? I thin layer of dust forms a nice insulation layer and would certainly account for 3C higher temps.

Yes I did clean the dust off, but I dont think that had much help.

I've cleaned dust off before with the heatsink still intact but temp remained the same nevertheless.

I suspect the same would happen with AS3.

The temp is rising because of the "pump-out" effect from the thermal expansion and contraction between the applied layers.

I built my current rig last October using Arctic Silver II. My temps are identical today compared to what they were on day 1. This is taking into consideration case temperature. My CPU temp has and still runs 10-11C above case temp. Either you aren't applying the compound properly or else you need to move to AS.

1.4 Tbird @ 1.4 temps are 35C to 45C depending on load and daily temp in non-airconditioned room.
