Reapplication of Arctic Silver 5

Hey All,

First off, great forums here. I'm always impressed by the depth of knowledge on these boards.

My question is about Arctic Silver 5. I've applied AS5 (two BBs) to my AMD64 3000+ about three months ago, along with another case fan and a slot fan to pull air off my 6600GT. These combined efforts brought temps down from 49 - 51 at idle to 41 - 44. CPU will still reach mid-fifties under full load.

Lately, I've been noticing temps creeping back up and I'm wondering if I need to re-apply the AS5. How long is a single application expected to last?

I checked their site, but the FAQ page seems to be under construction. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Dust in the HS/F most likely.

Yeah your AS5 should last longer than a few months, at the very least. Dust off your HSF and case fans. 🙂

agreed, plus it's getting to be summer time for those of us in the northern hemisphere so your room temps have probably increaced causeing the temps to go up.
