Realtek SPDIF drop outs

I got a new Asus A8N SLI Premium. When using the on-board SPDIF to my receiver I'm having a lot of drop outs (like a second of silence) . This happens when playing both stereo and surround sources.
I updated to the latest Realtek drivers but that didn't solve it.
This never happened with my previous PC with the same coax cable and receiver.

Any ideas appreciated!

Problem was eventually solved. It turned out to be the cable. I bought a RG59 coax and the dropouts were gone.
I guess the new PC was more sensitive to electromagnetic interference.
