Realtek not detecting surround sound

Okay, so today I just got my first surround sound system, or home theater, whatever section, genre its in/called.

Anyways:

I'm trying to set it up with my PC, my PC had ports for surround sound. as seen in the image of realtek.

I have the surround sound plugged into the sub-woofer slot , and another stereo system plugged into the headphone jack. So i can have a simultaneously studio feel. (I guess I can call it)
Problem is, Realtek or windows who ever is at fault, won't detect the surround sound. Meaning playback won't playback through the surround sound. I don't know what to do.

You have selected headphones selected in Sound settings, so your first order of business would be to set Speakers for whichever device you are using (looks like Realtek, in this case) as default.

You also need to tell windows what speakers you have. With Speakers highlighted, click on Configure and tell Windows how many speakers you have.
