Yeah, I know it will work but is there any advantage over the previous chip if only using it for 10M?

I have cards with each chip and want to use the best one, dig?

I wont matter, 10megabit is freakin slow for any large data transfers

Worry about getting a new hub or whatever is holding you back

Actually they are just for internet use.

I am not poo-pooing y'all's advice which you were kind enough to offer but I do have a rather good grasp on the English language and saying "Any 100Base-TX chip from Realtek will work optimally on 10Base-T networks" does not imply any comparison and indeed suggests that a 100 controller will work better on the slower 10 network than on the 100 network. I want to know if the 100 controller will work better than the 10 controller on the 10 network. Anyhoo I will prolly just try the 100 on the primary machine even though it means futzing around. And this will prolly become irrelevant within a couple months with a controller integrated on my next mainboard

I really don't think you'd see much of a difference. Personally I'd go with the 100 chip.
