Realtek Audio Drivers won't stay loaded

Suddenly this weekend, every time I turn the computer on, my onboard Realtek AC'97 drivers apparently get lost, and I need to reinstall them and reselect my speakers as playback device.

Running Vista 64-bit Ultimate on an ASUS A8-N mobo with an AMD 64X2 4200+ CPU.

Haven't changed any hardware, nor have I installed any new or funky software.

Would a System Restore be an option, to see if that works? I have the same OS and motherboard and use the onboard audio too, but no issues (yet). I'm using the default Vista drivers, is that what you've been using?

Using the latest from Realtek; not sure what the version number is. I could try a System Restore, but I'd like to figure out why this has started, in case it recurs.

@ montag: What's the point of your question?

Sorry, but you're not making any sense. What if I am or not? (I'm the only user, so yes, it's an admin account, or of course, I can give myself admin privileges.)

But so what? In other words, instead of asking more questions, it would be helpful if you'd provide answers. For example, "If you're running an admin account, do thus-and-such; if you aren't, do this'n'that."

If you don't want to answer questions, or get ratty about it, take your pc to your nearest pc mechanic and pay your money.

All the best

I'm trying to resolve a problem: I'm the one with the question. I'm sorry you took offense at my attempt to try to help you better help others.

At any rate, I resolved the problem.
