Realtek Audio 97: Problems with 5.1

I just got a new computer and with the default drivers etc I was able to get 5.1 surround sound, or at least sound coming out of all the speakers, but since it popped and cracked some I updated the drivers. No more popping and cracking and no more 5.1 either.

I went it and tried messing with the speaker settings (5.1, 7.1, two speakers, etc) but it didnt do anything.

i have the newest version (yea i agree, it did fix the popping noises...) and 5.1 works....make sure you set it to use 5 channels in the settings

In control panel->sound and audio devices->advanced ???

I have it at 5.1.

I just found a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Digital card I have laying around, but would prefer to use onboard due to lack of space.
