I have the motherboard listed in the title and the standard Realtek drivers installed. I have an issue with switching between outputs that I've never experienced in the past. I use a 5.1 sound system as well as headphones. There is an option in the drivers, "Make front and rear output devices playback the same audio stream," or "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously."
When I choose the first option, the speakers are fine, but the headphones receive the same stream, so if I listen to a 5.1 movie for example, I hear no voices, just left and right channels. If I choose the second option, speakers and headphones both work correctly, but it's almost impossible to switch between them. After I unplug headphones, the front panel is still set as the output device. I can click Mixer from the speaker notification and change this, but it doesn't stick. I'll go back and check it and it's set to headphones again. The only way to get speaker playback again is to disable the front output.
Maybe the problem is that auto-detection is not working? In the Realtek Audio Manager, the unused back ports are correctly "dim", to indicate they're not being used, but the front port icons are fully colored all the time, as if it thinks the headphones are plugged in.
Does anyone have issues like this with this sound chip? What can I do about it? Thanks.
