Use my favorite line: Frankly, Real Player blows goats. Now remove it.

Its spyware for Real, and it changes the darn file associations everytime you use it so that it becomes the default player. It got real obnoxious and bloated when they realized they aren't going to be making money soon (which is the case now) so they're punishing the user.

It never changed file associations for me. Only the first time it was installed, and that was easily corrected. I have RP installed and it only plays RP content. The spy part of it is also very easy to turn off in prefs.

No, I do not prefer RP, but I don't think it's the devil like so many do. I mearly think WMP is a much better solution.

that is only realplayer one, which is the worst crap ever, realplayer 8 is ok, its easy to set it so that it only plays real media files and nothing else.

Ah, OK. I have Realplayer 8, not RealOne. I guess that's why I have no problems.

Though they were the first people that brought me streaming video.... I still say their product, flat out, sucks. Real is a loser.

I've used rp8 and I currently use realplayer one. Neither one has ever stolen any file extensions. They play realplayer files, and that's all they do.

It was a big memory hog for me. It was running this exe file which I did not recognize at first, it was taking up like 50-60 megs. :Q

The Real Player Start Center is easily disabled in Prefs.

Msconfig is your friend. Go to run, type "msconfig". Go to the startup tab. If you don't know what it is, you probably don't need it.

RealPlayer 8...currently lies dormant somewhere in my hard drive.

Roars and screws the landscape when I have to play RM content.

POS player...

Is RP the only thing that can play RM files?

Eh, I only use it to play real media files and thats all. just disable all the cr@p that they load and everything, and make it as basic as possible and its perfectly fine. For me its a necessity, since most anime are in real media format.
