Ok I really don't like Real player, but I need Real to run some files I have.

I downloaded RealONE (free version) and it works fine, but when I booted up today it loaded something called Message Center. It is connecting to the internet and downloading "headlines" for me. Is there anyway to turn off this Message Center so it want check for updates and load at Windows startup?

Also are there any programs that play Real files? Like I said I really don't like Real Player and if I could get it off my system that would be great.

I hate Real with a passion. I truely hope they go out of business... the sooner the better. I don't need the hassle of fighting their website to download their crappy software, then fighting the installer to keep it from doing things no one would ever want it to do, then spending five minutes changing options to keep it from completely takign over my system. NO, I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ALL MY MEDIA FILES WITH REALSHITTYPLAYER!!! NO, I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR "IMPORTANT" MESSAGES!!! GAHHHH!!!

Anyway, try going to start>run>type msconfig, and look under "Startup". I believe their TSR is called "evntsvc". uncheck it, and away you go.

There was a "wrapper" program that played Real files, but you still had to install Realplayer. There isn't any real alternative. But, since they're located just a few miles from where I live, maybe I'll just go picket their building. Bastards.
