well since i wanted to oc my x1900xt i disabled "/ati hot key poller" and "ati smart" and then upped the voltage to 1.425 and set my clocks to 669/801. then i ran 3dmark06 and got 6142 so i know the ocing worked. anyway now something weirds happens. for no reason my card will underclock itself to 399/1188 and set the fan speed to 30%! that caused my card to jump up to 90c load:confused::Q if any knoes how to "hardlock" my oc or to help me with this problem that would be great!

If you're using Catalyst 6.4 or later with ATI Tool for overclocking, then this problem appears to be a known issue. See here for my thread on learning about it a couple of days ago.

if your using atitool, you need to set your safety ranges to the minimum the x1900xt is supposed to be at in the 2dmodes, otherwise it does that, it happend to me too. it never goes below 500/600 like that. you just have to set it up to load the 3d profile(oc) when you enter the 3d mode, or you can clock it and then enter the game.

use rivatuner?

it works with ATi's 2D downclocking. doesn't seem to like hibernate much, however.
