alright... a client has a system... and for some reason the user on the system can't use his browser.

it's almost like a DNS problem...

the thing is... I can ping IP addresses, but when I ping a domain name it says "unknown host"

the DNS servers are up and running...

I had this problem before... and after I enabled all of the items under "communications" in the windows setup tabs (located in add/remove programs... in the control panel) it worked. I tried it again this time, but it won't work.

This problem is driving me batty... I don't want to reinstall the entire OS.

any help would be appreciated.

the protocols he has running are TCP/IP, NetBIOS, IPX/SPX (there's a reason both are there)... he can browse the local network.

there is no software firewall installed.
