Have gentoo install.
Fresh install. Had a boot up problem before which I got resolved with a few kernel tweaks.
Now I'm noticing something I've never seen before.
there is no /var/log/kernel or /var/log/messages
if that wasn't bad....messages I *should* see in /var/log/messages (su and login attempts) are being displayed right on the monitor in real time.
has anyone ever seen that occuring?
edit: I just realized that syslog-ng was not installed. having errors installing it. looking into that
