Folks, I was able to snag a little MSI integrated MicroATX MoBo that is a Gateway pull for a real good price. Looked like such a neat little MoBo I just couldn't resist. Yes, I know - I'm a hardware addict like many others out there. I don't have any experience with the 810E chipset and I've been tearing my hair out trying to get some straight-forward answers from the Gateway website. My question is this - since this is an integrated MoBo could I concieveably use any 810E drivers for video, audio and the onboard modem as well as the IDE and other sundry drivers. Does the 810 use Win98SE generic drivers to run onboard components? MSI is no help either but if all else fails I'm going to call Sam at MSI's tech support in CA on Monday. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks folks.
Rick
Update: Folks, I don't know what the heck I'm doing wrong! I just tried 3 different MoBos, all with Intel 810 or 810E chipsets, all with onboard video and when I start them up - nothing. Just a blank screen - no BIOS message, no initial boot up screen also no beep! I checked my monitor with another computer and it's fine. Any ideas?
Latest Update: As we used to say in the Corps "It's not the dope on the weapon but the dope behind the weapon!" It's amazing what can happen when some knucklehead puts the wrong cpu in three different motherboards! Doohhh!
