OK, so this is messed up. Every search engine i go to (google, altavista, lycos to name a few), i get diverted to cpanel.net. the only one i can get to is yahoo, and when i try to do a search, i get a "404 Not Found" And when I search in my Google bar, i get a 404 as well. I am using IE, btw. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on and how i can fix it? Thanks...

Sounds like you've been hit by spyware. Get the free version of Ad-Aware from lavasoftusa.com. Download the software, and install it. Then, when you bring it up, the first thing you should do is click the link for the latest profile update. The latest one (as of this post) came out on 10-6.

Then, get off line, and run it. If it doesn't automatically do so for you, check everything it finds (this varies from system to system), and let the system delete them. It will give you the option of creating an "Undo" file, but I've never needed it.

Hope that gets it for you. 🙂

hey thanks for the help, when I read that I thought surely that was the problem but it still didn't fix it. any other ideas, anyone?

yes. you have the TrojanQhost which can be removed with the directions from that link. Also here is a discussion about restoring you hosts file. I am 100% sure your problem will be solved by going into to those 2 links, so goodluck, and let me know of any changes 🙂

greets,

xiety
