Really stupid PayPaL Qs

So I want to accept payments through my paypal acc't.

I have to get verified first I think. Getting verified is linking the paypal account to a bank account, right ?

the bank acc't has to have at least $200 in it at all times ?

I don't wanna accept credit cards b/c of the fees, but how much are the fees for just accepting paypal as payment w/out cc#s ?

thanks

No fee, that's why ppl take non-cc paypal only in FS/FT

and RTFM in paypal.com FAQ

P.S. you with 200+ ebay transaction, still asking question like this ?

I never used paypal before b/c I heard a lot of horror stories and bad things about them.

Hi Stifko,

Personal accounts are not charged fees. These accounts could only accept PayPal balance transfer/echeck payments.

Business/Premier accounts are charged fees. These accounts can accept credit card payments.

The above is not completely true, Paypaldamon.

I just had to deny a transaction on a $28 payment b/c the buyer used a credit card.

For a lousy $28, paypal wanted $1.20 ! Forget that noise.

Everything has an 'alterego' site like that.

I have read it and do not worry about using paypal. Have for years with no problems at all...

Good service imo

Hi stifko,

Personal accounts are told the cost of accepting the payment if they upgrade their account, which is why you would have been told that it costs x.xx. You are not charged unless you upgrade the account ( you were sent a credit card payment---this does require having a Business/Premier account).

there's no way to have paypal account without linking to bank account?

i was hoping you could just set up account. take non-cc transfers for free. or deposit checks into account. then get money from paypal by check which is where they would get their profits from (as well as interest from account)

don't other people want something like this? if it's not, is there reason they don't do it like this?

Adding a bank account actually has to do with verification to help reduce concerns over fraud (stronger identity confirmation through bank account verification). In addition, manually processing payments like you seem to be interested would not be very cost-effective from an operational viewpoint.

(We actually don't make any interest because of the FDIC pass-through insurance).

Putting your bank account on file does not just give us access to your bank account---you would have to request the transaction off of the web site for it to occur. We also offer protection against unauthorized withdrawals.

i don't mind they charge some % for cc transactions.
however, when you upgrade, they charge you on everything, even normal transactions that are free with personal account.
they suck.

true that makes upgrading much less attractive, wonder why do that have that policy ?

check this out pls, this guy knows not what he talks about, eh ?
if he was verified and was able to accept payments, then he would know about how to avoid the fees, right ?
what I wrote is bolded, I denied his payment b/c he used a CC and the credit has not hit his acc't yet.
how long should that take, a whole billing cycle ??? what a pain this can be.

>I don't want to pay a $1.25 fee for taking this
>payment.

I've sold using paypal before and I think they do charge a fee for their
services. In the future, don't tell people they can use paypal for your
auctions if you are unwilling to pay those fees.

Once I see the refund from paypal on my online credit card statement, I will
send the $28.00 payment to your house. I don't think that if I use a
debit/check card the paypal service fee will go away. It may take a few
days for the credit from paypal to go through. If you don't think you'll be
able to wait, let me know.

Thanks again,

Hi stifko,

He is not charged a fee (the only time I could see this person paying a fee (through their card company) is if they used it as a cash advance. The recipient of the payment is the one that is actually charged a fee.

The refunds to a credit card typically take several business days, but the credit card company can take up to 30 days to actually post it back.
