really strange HDD issue

ok this is really odd and i think it has to be the HDD but could be something else

i have 4 HDDs windows in on 1 and i keep stuff on the others, one of them has a lot of Anime on it, (tv shows) in folders and such, yesterday i noticed that some random files wouldent play because WMP said they were corrupt, this was odd seeing as they worked like 3 ays ago, so i did a lil more looking and founc out that it was more then a few files that exibited this issue, sometimes if you cick on the file in windows explorer, explorer will crash, and send an error report

worried I ran chkdisk on all my HDDs last night while I was asleep figuring that might solve the issue, IT DID NOT

so today i went through everything and found out what was corrupt and what was not, its totallty random, some files that are 2 days old are corrupt and others that i havent touched in months are fine

only certian files in the folders are messed up, say i have a 26 episode show, episodes 5-7 and 13-15 will be corrupt, the others fine, it only seems to be on this on HDD because stuff on the other one is fine


anyone have ANY idea WTF is going on? i ran norton and its not a virus, i have no problim formatting the HDD but will only do that as a last resort

Windows is NOT installed on the HDD with the problims and all HDDs are formated NTFS
 
It sounds like the drive is dying, get as much stuff off of it as you can before it dies completely.
You might try writing zeros to it once you get your stuff off but i doubt it would fix it.
 
i was afarid of this, but the drive has given me no issues at all, and i wouldent have noticed if i hadent tried to transfer some things to someone else and he said they wouldent play

if it is dyeing then recomend me a replacement ~160GB HD, this one is a Maxtor I beleive
