Really slow (2-3 minutes) Bootup on windows

I recently repaired my old PATA HDD to work with my SATA computer. Ever since that, the windows operating system takes about 2-3 minutes to boot up. It gets stuck at the widnwos is starting..... screen. I was wondering what ic an do to fix htis... P.S. i ahve already tried deleteing the precache folder:

Specs:

Windows XP Home
3700+ AMD 64-bit
1 gig ram
x800 pro graphics card
PATA HDD

How is the PATA disk attached to the system? If its set as Master or Cable Select on the Primary IDE controller, Windows might be trying to boot from it, retrying a set number of times then looking at the other drives for its boot info.

You might also look at the boot order in BIOS, take the PATA (IDE) drive out of the list if it's there.

Hope that helps.
