ok, i have a 20GB HD and a 40GB HD, Windows 98 is on my 20...and a bunch of data is on my 40. i'm getting a new processor and mobo, so i'm gonna be formatting my 20 and reinstalling Win98 on it. My question is...will i have to format my 40? Will having a new Mobo force me to? i really don't want to lose the data on it, so i just want to make sure that i will be able to access my 40 when i install Win98 on my formatted 20. Thanks.

thanks a lot Nic. Say i were to install XP, it doesn't only recognize NTFS partitions does it? would it recognize my 40?

XP should be able to detect NTFS or FAT partitions. In fact a lot of techs I know install NT and 2000 on a FAT partition and then use the NTFS for all the other files.
