Really really Need Help Making My Router Work Please

I Im Trying to make my Netgear WGR614 v5 (Im not using the Wireless) working, but after 3 hours nothing....:|

When im connecting to the internet directly with my modem no problem all work fine, but when configuring the router after entering all he ask me, He is not capable of connecting to the internet.

My modem is a DSL modem (PPPOE)

I Try all the things I can but with no success, normally I always resolved all of my computer problems but this is the first time I buy a router and I don't know a lot about this.

The Frustrating part is all the people I know that I normally help with computer, seems to have configured their router with no problem...but I can't 😛

So can you help me please?

Router: Netgear WGR614 v5

Modem: Speed Touch Home By Alcatel

ISP: BEll Canada Sympatico

OS: Windows XP

Did you enter your username and password on the first page of setup in the router control panel? Router Setup

Yeah I did this and after is trying to connect but with no success.

My router is working fine now 🙂

Only forgot to update the firmware and I was sure that my Windows Firewall was turn Off but He Wasnt...
After this I simply erase my previous settup and configure it all again, now he's working Thank you!
