Board is an EVGA E758

I'm trying to mount an NH-D14, but this fucker is in my way and the only way I can get it in there properly is if I get rid of it. I removed it, and under was a layer of thermal paste that wasn't melted yet, and a bunch of black chips. Can I get rid of this tiny heatsink and be relatively alright? My case is going to have monster airflow to keep it cool, so ambient temps are fine, not to mention that that is the direction which the cooler will be blowing right next to it.

What part of the board is that anyway?

Thanks.

Those black chips are VRMs and their temps can reach 100C and beyond. Just FYI.

Hey lopri, thanks, already found out. I managed to fit the NH-D14 into the spot, the two heatsinks are probably within a milimeter of eachother if not touching. I took pics actually, but I don't think anyone will want to see anyway. Just know that the E758 can fit the NH-D14 with some creative magic.

Can you do me a favor and delete this thread and the exact same one I made in the general hardware section?
