Really old anime...

I'm talkin really old. If I recall correctly, I saw it in the late 80's and it came on once a week really early in the morning. Had a standard hero character with 2 or 3 travelling companions, one of whom floated around on a basket. I remember an episode where they pulled a sword from the neck or a frozen "bad guy" who then came to life and the only way to re-freeze him was to stick the sword back in his neck.

This has been bugging me for longer than I care to admit. Any help?

I just looked a little harder and managed to find it. I kept thinking it was dragon quest, but the show i found under that title didnt look right. it was called dragon warrior, turns out it was a product of akira toriyama (dbz, chrono trigger, etc)
