seems my budget is much smaller than i thought so i need help, im looking to spend no more than £100, the cheaper the better! am looking to couple with an Athlon 1800 XP perhaps. im not really a hardcore gamer, i just game everynow and then, stuff like GTA3- i wont be upgrading my video card for another 2-3 years probably so maybe 128Mb would be the best?

ok so ot of the following choices, which will be the best...

64MB Geforce 4 Mx 4_0
64 MB ATI Radeon 8500LE
128 MB Abit Geforce 3 Ti 200 (or a 64Mb)
128 MB Radeon 9000 (or a 64Mb)

cant get a Geforce 4 Ti before u say that! is the Radeon 9000 the best since 128Mb and DX 9 support?
any tips would be great!

I used to own a 64MB GeForce3 Ti200 and I loved it! You can usually pick them up for ~$80 or so and the cores usually overclock pretty well. Depending on the brand you get, the memory may overclock well too. Mine was a VisionTek and I was able to run it a 220 core/450 memory. I couldn't tell you what type of memory it used since the ram heat spreaders were glued on, but it's a fast card even if you don't overclock it. More importantly, it has a pixel shader. :) Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights already support it and use it to draw incredible water textures. Lots of upcoming games will be using pixel shaders too, so I'd definitely consider getting a card that has one.

 The Rad9000/9000pro are CUT DOWN versions of the Rad8500/8500LE cards, and are DX8 and NOT DX9. Only Rad9700 ($£450+) is DX9, and that's very pointless anyway for at least a year.

;) GF4MX440 is 'only' a very slightly enahnced GF2TI, and the GF4MX460 isn't much faster. GF3TI200 is MUCH better and unlike GF2/GF4MX offers full DX8 hw. Rad8500LE is slightly faster than even an o/c'ed GF3TI200, and the Rad offers better image quality, TVout, dual display and DVD playback, the GF3 is better for AA and Aniso though. The GF4TI4200 cards are much faster and offer it all, plus they usually reach 4400 or 4600 speeds.
