Really need help with new computer setup

OK, so here's what's happened. I just built a new computer using a few old parts from my previous computer, a few parts from someone else's computer, and new parts. I've got everything setup, but I'm having problems with windows. I think... I want to reformat so I can start from scratch (probably a good thing...jumping from a P3 933MHz to an Athlon 64-M 3200+ and 383MB of PC133 memory to 1028MB of PC4000)

When I tried reinstalling windows, I got an error message. I checked on the windows website and it said I either had bad RAM or my BIOS were messed up. I assumed it was the BIOS since when booting up, it said "RAM: 1024 MB OK" or something like that. I went to my bios, and remembered that the processor/mobo are already overclocked (that's the "used" stuff I got) The CPU was running at 230x10 instead of 200x10. The RAM settings were on "Auto" so I changed them to 200MHz (PC3200 speeds). This time around, Windows booted up (really slowly) but it did boot none the less. So here's the deal. Is this just a temporary thing and next time I boot up it will run faster? How exactly do I set the speed of the RAM to 230MHz if my BIOS only have settings up to 200MHz? My BIOS also read that my CPU was running at 2000MHz, is that correct, or should it read 2300? Does that mean that my CPU isn't in an overclocked state at the moment?? I'm new to the whole overclocking thing, but I'd love for this to be my first project.

I want to run the RAM at a 1:1 with the HTT if at all possible (runs at 250MHz at 1.5v...so I'd think that wouldn't be a problem) even though I cannot change the voltage going into my RAM over 1.65v.

Here's what I'm running right now...

Athlon 64-M 3200+ (Stock 2.0GHz, OC'd [supposed to be] to 2.3GHz)@ 230x10
1024MB Kingmax Hardcore PC4000
ASRock K8S8X mobo
IDE HD/DVD/CD-RW from my old computer

Any thoughts about what I should do??

Help!!

Keep you hardware at stock speeds (ie, no OC) when installing windoze and all your drivers. After you're sure your setup is correct and stable, then do some OCing.

Looks like stock for your cpu w/b 2000mhz. If thats what BIOS shows then you're good.

Since your cpu is back to stock, put ram back to "auto", then when you OC the cpu, the ram will also OC.
